"Drag in Friday Evening . . . Bounce out Friday Night!"
Dance Improv, Live! is a place to move and be moved---a place to play, build friends and community, and move freely to fantastic live music. In this lightly structured bare-feet/comfy-clothes workshop, participants connect with themselves and others through creative movement and self-expression. Dance Improv's gifts are yours for the taking---whether it's meditation and centering, exercise and dancing, or just having a blast with a great community! Beginners are always welcomed and supported in this nationally recognized Princeton institution which has shaped and inspired the lives of thousands over the past three decades.
Founder/Artistic Director: Catherine Judd created Dance Improv after completing degrees in French, Philosophy, and Theater at Dickinson College and studying Psychology at Princeton University, Orgonomy at NYU, creative movement at Philadelphia's Group Motion, and music improvisation with friend and colleague David Darling, with whom she helped found Music for People. In 1985, she synthesized all of these into a lightly structured workshop for self-expression through creative movement, adding live music in 1987 and renaming it (with intentional double-entendre), Dance Improv, Live!
Today our workshops are led by Sue Saponara, with live music from our original drummer Dave Stone and support from Catherine Judd, Ange Chianese, and Jane Buttars. For information regarding the Dance Improv coop or for other questions, please contact:
